When you finally arrive at your friend’s house, it turns out that they are all too busy playing other games to watch you struggle through the rules.

I’ve been watching this incredibly daring, strategic reality program for 20 years, and one of the things I miss most about it as a child is our family Survivor pools. That’s why I’m bringing it back this year!

I was around seven years old when the first season of Survivor debuted. My father and the family company would hold a “Survivor pool,” in which we’d all pick a name in the hopes that our castaway would outwit, outplay, and outlast the other contestants. Things were fairly simple back then, during the Richard Hatch and Ethan Zohn days — dial-up internet, ya know, the easy life. We didn’t have a “downloadable version” of a Survivor pool template since it was so basic – my father would have to create his own board from scratch. It’s nice to do things the old-fashioned way, but now that we’re older, we need ease.
Survivor is entering a new era this season, as host Jeff Probst noted. With sneak peeks at all the wild twists and several references of this so-called ravenous “monster,” it’s obvious that Survivor 41 is a must-see. But, before we get started on this crazy season, I’ve put up a free printable (and editable) Survivor 41 pool template for you and your watching party to utilize!

Because there are eight of us in my pool this year, we’ll each receive two castaways, with two of the castaways serving as wild cards (which will be given to my adorable toddler nieces). Alternatively, you might utilize this template to hold a LIVE Draft before to the premiere. Of course, you may make up your own rules and customize the design to fit your pool.

Fill up the B column with your names (You can copy & paste another row if you need to add more names) Create your castaway by following these steps: Hold down the shift key and select all of the castaway names in column C, then right-click and choose “randomize range” (you must highlight only the names)

Draw your names from a hat and manually input your chosen castaway into your copy of the template if you’re truly old-school.
Season 41 of Survivor will be, to put it mildly, unexpected. And, since the season is shorter this year (just 26 days instead of 39), the game will be much more hazardous at this much quicker tempo. The finale and reunion special should broadcast in December if the scheduling stays the same as previous autumn seasons.
This season, I anticipate it to feel like a brand-new game. We’re certainly entering a new era of Survivor, with an unknown, “themeless” season (as of right now) and cryptic rumors about the “monster.”
Until then, have fun gathering the group online, or in person if possible. Survivor has always brought my family together and continues to do so – I hope it will do the same for you!
